Materials List:The 12x16 Run In horse barn plans come with a complete materials list that is broken down by parts of the shed.
Foundation: This run in shed is built on 6x6 pressure treated rails.
Floor: The floor for horse run in sheds is typically left as existing dirt.
Walls Framing: 4x4 posts with 2x4 girt boards and 1x8 oak kick panels on the inside and 1x10 pine boards and battens on the outside. Wood sheet materials or metal siding may be used.
Wall Height: The rear shed wall height is 8'-5 1/2", the front wall is 9'-5 1/2'. The entry header height is 8'-5 1/2".
Siding: 1x10 boards and 1x2 battens are the primary siding but other sidings such as corrugated metal or 4x8 rough cut plywood may be used.
Roof: The roof is framed using 2x4's to build the trusses. It is sheeted with 1/2" O.S.B. for strength. The plans give you a template and dimensions for the birdsmouth cut angles on the rafters.
Roof Pitch: 4/12, this means that for every 4 inches of rise there is 12 inches of run horizontally.
Roof Overhang: 18" on the front and 6" on the back, the sides have a 2" overhang.
