This is our 4×4 Chicken coop with a lean to style roof. It is a simple to build coop that is designed to house about 4 large chickens or 6 bantam chickens. This is a great chicken coop design if you want to raise backyard chickens. It uses a 4’x4′ space in your yard or garden and is inexpensive to build. The plans also include instructions on how to build a chicken run. The chicken run is helpful if you do not have a fenced yard.
Built in Portland Oregon, the owner said ” I had a lot of fun and the plans were very helpful.”
The 4′ dimensions keeps the materials used to build the chicken coop to a minimum.
The materials include:
- 16 2×4 boards used for legs, floor, wall and roof framing.
- 1 sheet of 3/4″ plywood
- 2 sheets of 4×8 Grooved Siding
- 1 sheet of 4×8 O.S.B. sheeting
- 2 sheets of Corrugated roofing, plus a sheet of translucent roofing if you want to add a skylight.
- Trim
- Hardware including hinges, nails and bolt latch.
- Paint
